Arsenal back for Vlahovic

Arsenal are looking to rekindle interest in Dusan Vlahovic, a year after missing out on the Juventus striker.

Corriere dello Sport reports that the Gunners are looking to get back on the table following Gabriel Jesus’ injury, although Manchester United can’t be ruled out either as they look to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

It remains to be seen if Juventus will decide to cash in on a player they spent £62 million on last January, but it seems he has plenty of suitors if they do.

Man Utd back in for De Jong

When do they learn?

According to both the BBC and the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are ready for the second round with Frenkie de Jong and are looking to pair him with Jude Bellingham in the center of their midfield.

The Barcelona midfielder – who showed no signs of leaving over the summer – remains a prime target for Erik ten Hag after missing him this summer.

Bellingham is a longer-term target, having failed to sign him from Birmingham before the player joined Borussia Dortmund two years ago.

Southgate remains seated

An interesting line about Gareth Southgate now, he is expected to stay on as England manager.

As reported by Standard sports Earlier this week, Southgate considered resigning after England’s exit in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

Following England’s elimination, Southgate acknowledged a difficult previous 18 months in the job – particularly the boos he and his team were subjected to when they fell to a 4-0 home defeat to Hungary in Wolverhampton earlier this year.

It is believed to have greatly influenced Southgate, who were unwilling to go beyond the World Cup without the support of the England fans.

Man United plotting an attack from Griezmann

Antoine Griezmann is a name that is common in transfer dispatches today.

The Atletico Madrid star played a prominent role for France in Qatar on their latest journey to a World Cup final, tormenting England in the semi-finals as they largely rebuffed the threat of Kylian Mbappé.

Now Griezmann has once again been linked with a high-profile move to the Premier League, with French outlet Mediafoot suggesting that Manchester United are considering another flight for the 31-year-old.

Griezmann almost joined United in the past…could now finally be the time for the transfer?

Cristiano Ronaldo could ‘retire’

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future continues to be the subject of fervent speculation, with the Portuguese superstar appearing to be at a somewhat late career crossroads following his country’s agonizing elimination in the quarter-finals of the World Cup (where he was benched) .

He remains untied at club level following that acrimonious early departure from Manchester United last month and has been training with former side Real Madrid this week in a bid to stay fit, with a rumored big payday in Saudi Arabia yet to officially materialize.

Now ex-United team-mate Patrice Evra has loosened tongues by raising the prospect of his friend calling it quits.

“When I spoke to him I didn’t talk about what he’s going to do next,” Ev told Sky Sports. “We talked more about life and family.

“But I do not know [what he will do next]. Messi says he is retiring [from the World Cup]but I don’t know if Ronaldo will retire, because sometimes when you get so much criticism, especially at the end of your career, you think ‘OK, I think it’s time to stop’.

“It must be a feeling, especially when you’re not in your national team’s starting eleven, because that’s what Cristiano wanted: to play, be fit and win the World Cup with his country. This was his dream; now he can have that dream not.

“Although I won’t speak for Cristiano, I wouldn’t be surprised if he says he’s quitting. Now everything Cristiano does is he’s a ‘bad person’, a ‘bad player’ or whatever. I wouldn’t be surprised when he decides to retire.”

Arsenal’s Saka anxiety eased

Manchester City could be forced to pay a mega sum for Bukayo Saka.

Pep Guardiola’s recent contract extension put the Arsenal winger and Jude Bellingham at the top of their transfer wish list, according to 90min.

Saka’s contract expires in 2024, but football.london claims Arsenal can extend Saka’s contract for a further 12 months with an option on his existing deal, amid talks over an extension.

With little risk of him leaving for free, the Gunners would be free to charge a huge price.
