Will Ferrell appears as 'Anchorman' Ron Burgundy for Tom Brady Roast

Will Ferrell appeared at the Tom Brady roast on Sunday evening in character like his Anchorman persona, Ron Burgundy.

He was introduced as “a living legend, a world-class lover and the No. 1 news anchor of all of Sunday.”

“My name is Ron Burgundy,” he said. “I'm a big deal, but tonight it's not about me. … We are here to honor a champion of the football field, a great American, a father and a sexy man, a true patriot – until he wasn't.”

Burgundy started by commenting on Brady's good looks.

“This man is beautiful. … Look at those cheekbones. That's a million-watt smile right there. … I could get lost in those eyes and right now I am that person,” he said. “Ron, pull it together. You're a straight man. He makes you doubt your sexuality. Stop looking at him. You're here to fool him. Don't fall in love. To concentrate.”

He continued, “Tom, it's obvious that everyone here loves you. I love you even though it might just be lust. It could be love, we'll never know.”

Burgundy continued, “I can't wait for you to be there at Fox Sports commentating on the game you loved, or playing for the Raiders in the playoffs, or coaching the Patriots, or whatever you're going to do.”

He also joked that Brady was “boring” to watch. “I never liked you, Tom, in all the years I watched professional football. I've never seen a more boring quarterback,” he said, later adding, “He really made me look forward to all the fun and laughter of a postgame interview with Bill Belichick.”

Ferrell also joked to Belichick, “By the way, Bill, wherever you are, I hope, you know, I hope you know now that it was Tom, it was never you. … Think about that period when people thought it was you. Well, it wasn't. It was Tom. I understand, Bill. You are currently unemployed. Good luck with ZipRecruiter. There are many jobs in healthcare. I hear nurses are in high demand and with your bedside manner, no one would rather wake up after gallbladder surgery and look into the loving, kind face of Bill Belichick as he gives you a sponge bath.

He continued, “I mean, let's be honest. Your best years are behind you, Tom. The Super Bowls, Gisele, your movie career, it's all over, it's all over. But you won't be forgotten, you'll always be remembered as Eli Manning's bitch. Don't let that fool you, Tom. Like I said before, we all love you. In fact, only one man really hates you and it's my pleasure to bring him here, Mr. Bill Belichick,” Ferell finished, bringing out Brady's old Patriots coach.

Ferrell played Burgundy in two Anchorman movies.

The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady, which was part of the Netflix Is a Joke Fest was streamed live, which was touted by Netflix as the first-ever roast to be broadcast live and unedited. The festivities were held at the Kia Forum of LA in Inglewood.
