Apple removed a freeway in San Francisco, and not on Apple Maps

John Ternus was in a new BART train car, but not everything Apple showed outside was real

Apple's “Let Loose” event featured commuters heading to their iPads instead of the scenery – but what they missed was a view of San Francisco's Bay Area that doesn't exist.

As always, so is Apple's video production extremely well produced, and a real demonstration of how other tech companies fail in their presentations. In this case, part of that involved showing what appeared to be a perfectly timed drone shot of a train making its way through both San Francisco and the center of the frame.

But local publication SFGoes was not fooled and said it was “immediately” clear that Bay Area had been tampered with. As seen in the event, the train gently cuts through a beautiful tree-lined route, but in reality Apple had to erase I-280 to make it look like this.

On the other hand, Apple was praised for its realism when the scene was shot using one of the new Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) train cars. And John Ternus had to hold a pole to stay balanced, like a real commuter.
