Alya Nazir (Sair Khan) has left Coronation Street for a new job in Dublin – but only before discussing her relationship with her Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) first.
It won't come as a surprise to fans of the long-running series ITV soap that actress Sair Khan's departure is only temporary.
In a real soap opera fashionshe roamed the streets of Weatherfield with a variety of large objects in an attempt to hide her pregnancy from viewers, and the storyline of Alya moving to Dublin is established to facilitate her maternity leave.
The character has had quite a whirlwind month, after quitting her job at Barlow Legal Services and moving to rival lawyers Fabian.
Led by her new boss Rich Pemberton (Jamie Cho), he quickly followed her for a promotion in Dublinwhich she wanted to take after she had a fight with Adam.
However, it didn't take long for that to turn around and in a classic Corrie twist they suddenly fell head over heels for each other.
Unfortunately, when Rich walked in on them both and had a passionate momentit seemed the new job had failed.
He later assured her that the opportunity was still hers – and that he had been tipped off that the incident with Adam was a one-off and that she was still very trustworthy.

Then it turned out that Adam was the one who convinced Rich!
On tonight's episode (May 8), Stu Carpenter (Bill Fellows) arrived on an early flight from Germany to say goodbye before she left.
Alya was happy that Yasmeen (Shelley King) had some company in her absence, but her grandmother was more concerned about how she would feel without the man she had been leaning on lately…
She dismissed their relationship as purely platonic. It was clear there was still a spark between the two when they ran into each other outside Roy's Rolls.
Adam presented her with an expensive legal book as a parting gift, and they looked at each other knowingly.
Yasmeen begged Alya to open up about her feelings, and she admitted that if anything, it wouldn't be possible now that she was going to Dublin.
Could their affair reignite when she returns to Weatherfield in six months?
