Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag would rather stay at Old Trafford next season than move there Bayern Munichaccording to reports.

Despite announcing in February that Thomas Tuchel would leave the club at the end of the season, Bayern have suffered numerous setbacks in their quest to appoint a successor.

Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick all turned down a movewhile Julen Lopetegui seems ready choose West Ham over the Bavarian giants.

Bayern are now said to have turned their attention to the current United manager and approached his agent in recent days.

The Dutchman worked as a coach for the B team from 2013 to 2015, but according to ESPN, would prefer to continue his ongoing project at United rather than return to the Bundesliga.

However, despite his preference, Ten Hag's future at Old Trafford remains uncertain, with his position set to be assessed by INEOS at the end of the season.

United reached a second successive FA Cup final last month but are in danger of missing out on European football next season after just one win in their last six Premier League games.

However, Ten Hag has insisted he does not feel in a vulnerable position despite his side's lack of consistency throughout the campaign.

“No, I don't feel that way,” the 54-year-old said.

'I work well with them, we are on the same page, we communicate every day. There are already new people in a new structure and we communicate daily.

'I don't think so [terms of] Danger. I think in opportunities. I never think in terms of problems, I think 'how do we solve those problems or avoid them?'

United travel to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Monday with the opportunity to move back into sixth place with a win.
