King Charles III can't fit into a meeting Prince Harry this week, with an expert stating that this appears to show the true state of their father-son relationship.
After traveling to London earlier today, Harry is preparing to attend a special ceremony at St Paul's Cathedral on Wednesday, May 8.
The ceremony marks the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, with Harry expected to give a speech to mark the occasion.
Speaking of the fact that Harry is not meeting his father in Britain this weeksaid commentator Afua Hagan Express.co.uk: “I think it's a shame. I think it's great that they saw each other earlier in the year. And actually I thought that the king would have made time for this meeting, I understand that he has a busy agenda and that he still It is always under the advice of doctors, but I think it is a real shame.”
Discussing what this means in terms of their fractured relationship, she added: “It maybe shows that I've said in the past that I thought the relationship was getting better, maybe I was wrong about that.
“It also shows how busy the King is during this period and he is also balancing those treatments, but I think it's a shame.”
On May 8 – the same date Harry will attend the Games ceremony – the king is expected to attend a meeting in the Buckingham Palace Gardens.
The meeting is expected to end around the same time as the ceremony at St. Paul's Cathedral.
As the Telegraph reports, the monarch – who is still undergoing cancer treatment – will also hold his weekly audience Rishi Sunak on May 8.
Prince Harry has been at odds with the royal family for some time, with fractured relations further escalating since his royal departure in early 2020.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex made the decision to step down as senior working royals in January 2020, with the couple undergoing their final royal engagement two months later.
The couple then moved to the US with Prince Archie, who turned five on Monday, before welcoming their daughter in 2021.
Harry is said to have made the trip to Britain alone today, while Meghan remained in the US with their children.
However, Meghan is expected to join Harry in Nigeria later this week for further commitments to the Invictus Games.
The couple will travel separately to Nigeria, with Meghan flying from the US and Harry from Britain.
It remains unknown whether Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, who turn three next month, will join their parents in Nigeria.
