Michael Owen said his daughter Gemma Owen “made us proud” after the final of the ITV reality show Love Island.
Gemma and her partner Luca Bish finished in second place on the schedule, losing to Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti on Monday night.
Owen posted a photo of himself and his daughter in a restaurant and wrote on Twitter: “She made us proud.”
Prior to Gemma’s appearance on the show, the former Liverpool striker, 42, described the experience as “a father’s worst nightmare”.
Speaking to ITV, he said: “I have no doubt she will make us all proud.
“It’s probably a father’s worst nightmare, but whatever she wants to do. You have to support her.’
He later joked that he had gone “all the way to Germany” to “avoid” watching his daughter on the show while commenting on an English Nations League match in June.
