Netflix star is being treated for malnutrition after concerns from fans

Anne Winters has revealed this she is being treated for malnutrition after fans raised concerns about her appearance in recent weeks.

The Netflix actress, 29, starred in one of the streaming platform's biggest original productions, 13 reasons whyin which she plays Chloe Rice in seasons two, three and four.

The scare for the actress' health started a few weeks ago, when Anne appeared underweight in several videos and photos uploaded to her Instagram page.

Anne's followers noticed signs that she was continuing to lose weight, with one fan pleading with her to find a 'safe place' to heal and get better.

Now Anne addressed the problem in a new video uploaded to Instagram, explaining that she is currently receiving medical treatment for malnutrition.

In the video she said, “Guys! I'm so excited because guess what, I received the gift of help this week. I know a lot of you on Instagram have been really worried about me.

“I've also kept in touch with my doctor and things like that. I tried not to become like that. I wasn't trying to get that skinny, I don't want to be that skinny.'

Malnutrition occurs when a person does not consume enough calories, protein and other nutrients over a period of time, causing severe weight loss, exhaustion and a weakened immune system.

Anne further explained: 'I want everyone to know that it is really, really difficult to get help. I know we all talk about mental health and just get help, but y'all think this is easy, like 1, 2, 3.”

She added that finding help had become so difficult that she had to leave the United States to receive treatment, and that many places only accept cases of malnutrition in people under the age of 25.

But she assured fans that she had now “made it through treatment” and was working on getting permission to share her journey to recovery on social media.

The Night School actress admitted that she hadn't noticed any signs of malnutrition because she “never had any signs of weakness and had so much energy.”

“It's crazy that my body might have been in its final stages of survival,” she said.

Before appearing in 13 Reasons Why, Anne played the role of Carly in Mom and Dad, a film starring Nicolas Cage in which a mass hysteria virus causes parents to turn violently against their own children.

Following the end of the landmark Netflix series, Anne starred in The Orville, Seth MacFarlane's space-themed comedy set 400 years in the future.
