Ali Muhamad, a senior at Rahway High School, died the day after his father discovered him dead in his bed while trying to get him to school.
Derek Armstead, the mayor of Linden, made the announcement of Xavier’s passing late Wednesday night at some of his social media bills. In an email sent to the entire district on Thursday morning, Acting School Principal Denise Cleary informed Linden’s faculty and staff of the child’s passing. Together we hoped for a different outcome and prayed for a miracle, Armstead wrote on his social media posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
“I believe that God is wiser. He chose to invite Xavier home to be with Him because He needed an angel. I’ve known his parents, Lisa and Norm, for years, and their two sons, Xavier and Andres, since they were young boys, so this news hurts, Armstead said. Tragically, their worst nightmare came true.
