RISHI Sunak has scrapped the Halloween economic package for a full budget next month, when he aims to plug a £35 billion black hole.
the prime minister delaying the announcement until Nov. 17 to give financial forecasts time to improve.
He warned of “very difficult decisions” while number 10 would not say whether the triple lock on pensions would remain – days after the former prime minister Liz Truss promised it would happen.
The decision on whether or not to increase benefits in accordance with: inflation is also on November 17.
on his first PMQs yesterday, Mr Sunak pledged to take care of the poorest and said: “I will always protect the most vulnerable.
“This administration is going to restore economic confidence and stability and we will do so in a fair and compassionate manner.”
Chancellor Jeremy Hunt echoed the Prime Minister’s message that austerity was essential.
He told cabinet ministers that economic discipline was the “essential foundation” of the new government.
