Samsung Galaxy Fold4’s UD camera less visible

One of the most important changes introduced by the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 last year’s selfie camera was under the display and Samsung wants to improve it further on the Fold4. A Twitter tip since deleted reveals a slide of an official presentation outlining progress in the area.

The new approach is to use scattered sub-pixels, which improves the resolution of the above screen by about 40% – the pixel density goes from 94 ppi to 132 ppi.

This would inevitably make the selfie camera less visible if there is an image or text over it. It is unclear whether it will have any consequences for the image quality, but that camera is mainly intended for video calls anyway. We will still check how it goes after the official release on August 10.
