Strictly Come Dancing pairings revealed, including two same-sex couples

The highly anticipated collaborations have been revealed for Strictly Come Dancingand it’s the first time in the show’s history that two same-sex couples have spoken.

Strictly will kick off with the first live show on Saturday, where fans can finally watch this year’s cohort of celebrities and their professional dance partners compete against each other.

In addition to 15 new celebrities hitting the dance floor, there will be a few new faces among the pros – but hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will return for the hit show’s 20th series.

Also returning is the jury, consisting of: Shirley BallasCraig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.

Here are all of Strictly’s 2022 partnerships:

Ellie Simmonds and Nikita Kuzmin

Paralympic Ellie will speak with Nikita Kuzmin, making adjustments to their routines.

She previously revealed: “He’s never danced this before with anyone with dwarfism and I’ve never danced before in my life.

“So we said to each other that we’re just going to see what it’s like, you know, adjusting. If I have to hold him differently, I will hold him differently.

“It may be so different, but I think if I can do it, which is completely out of my comfort zone, people watching from home can realize they can adapt,”

Ellie Taylor and Johannes Radebe

Comedian Ellie has been paired up with Johannes – and the pair are sure to make a serious impression on the dance floor and fulfill one of Ellie’s dreams of being on the show.

She previously said, “I’ve wanted to do it forever. I’m so excited I can’t wait. I would like to find the joy in dance that people have.’

Before confirming her partnership with Johannes, Ellie joked, “I want someone who is patient. I need a long patient person, so basically everyone.’

Fleur East and Vito Coppola

Singer and radio host Fleur will face off against one of Strictly’s new professionals, Vito, who will make her debut on the show.

Fleur was hotly tipped as a potential winner of the show before the first episode even aired, and she applied in honor of her late father, who was a huge fan of the show.

She previously explained: “To me it’s sentimental because my father, who passed away in 2020, was Strictly’s favorite show.

“I’m just going to do it for him. I’m sorry he can’t see me do it, but I’ll keep him in mind when I do the show. My family will be buzzing for that reason.’

Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal

Coutnryfile presenter Hamza Yassin will be speaking with Jowita, and he’s excited to show off the moves he’s learning.

He previously said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be entering Strictly 2022. Never in a million years did I think I’d be on such a cool show.

“I’ve been watching it for years and I can’t believe I’ll actually be there dancing live for the British audience.”

Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez

Helen and Gorka are teaming up for this year’s competition and the Countryfile presenter has admitted the physical proximity will be a hurdle for her.

She previously explained, “I’m not that sensitive, so I guess I just need to get used to the physical closeness I have to have with my partner!”

James bye and Amy Dowden

EastEnders star James will leave his market stall in Albert Square in favor of sequins and glitter.

He previously joked that his kids aren’t impressed with his moves, explaining: “I’m not known for my shimmy or my twinkling toes – in fact my kids regularly laugh at my dad dancing, but it’s an honor to to be asked and I’ I’m going to do my best.

“There are some huge dancing shoes to fill and it’s really exciting to follow in the footsteps of an amazing EastEnders talent. I would like to make everyone proud.’

Jayde Adams and Karen Hauer

Comedian and actress Jayde Adams will join Karen Hauer in one of Strictly’s same-sex partnerships.

Joining the show has been a lifelong dream for Jayde, who admitted, “Since watching the first series in 2004, I’ve felt like every step I’ve taken in my career over the past 11 years would be on Strictly.

“I can’t begin to express the emotions I feel, this means so much to me and my family. I’ve always watched it, except for a brief hiatus in 2011 when I was relentlessly performing every weekend (trying to get through the Strictly).’

Kaye Adams and Kai Widdrington

Kaye and Kai are set to tear up the dance floor together this series, but the Loose Women star admitted she worries about embarrassing herself on the show.

She revealed: “A friend of mine is a choreographer, so he shows me some of the basic steps and also has me disco dancing around the room ‘like nobody’s looking’. He tells me to get used to feeling silly!’

Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima

Kym will be paired up with Graziano as they compete for the glitter ball, but the Coronation Street star has never been able to participate before due to scheduling conflicts.

She explained: “I’ve considered doing Strictly for years, but the timing never worked out. I’m so glad they have this year!

“I’m a huge fan of the show and can’t believe I’m going to go from home in my pajamas to actually dance in front of the judges in a glittery dress, it’s unreal!”

Matt Goss and Nadiya Bychkova

Matt will take the floor with Nadiya, but the Bros star has found the workout much harder than he expected.

He admitted: ‘It is the biggest misconception’ [that musicians have an advantage] because what we do is instinctive, we are told to move here and go there.

“We understand music, but the discipline of hearing where to go goes against everything we’ve been taught. I thought I would have an advantage, but I was humbled right away.”

Molly Rainford and Carlos Gus

CBBC star Molly is the youngest star to compete at age 21 and will dance this year with new professional Carlos in the competition.

She previously revealed: “I was worried that people would have a preconception that I can dance because I play, but I can assure you that’s not the case.

“I feel like that gives people the expectation that I’m going to be a good dancer, which is a pressure — that’s a little scary.”

Richie Anderson and Giovanni Pernice

This year’s second same-sex partner will be Richie and Giovanni, who will be speaking together.

Richie revealed that last year’s all-male combination of John Whaite and Johannes Radebe inspired him to follow in their footsteps.

He revealed: “Honestly, watching John and Johannes last year gave me the confidence to embark on an all-male partnership this year.

‘I’m so glad I’m doing it. I just felt so much inspiration. I wish I could have seen that on TV growing up, growing up as a teenager and constantly trying to figure out what I was and what I wasn’t.’

Tony Adams and Katya Jones

Former Arsenal star Tony will be paired up with Katya as the pair make their bid for the glitter ball trophy.

The football legend had previously been approached for the show in 2016, but feels now is the right time for him to take part.

He explained: “I am 26 years old without alcohol and drugs, so I want to bring some awareness about mental health and addiction into life and what I do today.

‘Dance is all part of the process; we used dance therapy in rehab, and I thought ‘go for it.”

He continued, “I had a nervous breakdown when I was 49. My new addiction is working too hard, so now I want to take it strictly. You can do anything when you are free from addiction.’

Tyler West and Dianne Buswell

Kiss radio host Tyler has been paired up with Dianne for this year’s show — and the pair are going to give it their all in the competition.

He previously said, ‘I’m SO gassed to join the Strictly family! When I started writing this I was already getting cramps.

“It’s going to be a crazy, incredible journey that will no doubt be SO far out of my comfort zone.

“It’s a show that means so much to me and my family and I can’t wait to seriously shake a leg on that shiny dance floor… with a sequin side.”

Will Mellor and Nancy Xu

Two Pints ​​of Lager and a Packet of Crisps star Will will be paired with Nancy for the competition this year.

He revealed the special reason he chose to do the show: “I lost my dad in 2020 and I thought from then on I just have to take life and I have to do things and I have to create new memories. and my mindset changed, and that’s kind of one of the reasons why.

“It’s my mom’s favorite show, so she’s had a really rough time the past few years, so I thought we’d do this.”

Strictly Come Dancing starts Saturday at 6:10pm on BBC One.
