The beginning of May bank holiday is finally here and promises a day off for many.
Many of us use the extra day off to catch up with loved ones or to put aside a mountain of chores.
Those plans could well depend on the weatherbut we have ours Fingers crossed that the rain stays away.
Others might want that hit the shops for a little retail therapy before the monday blues – now shifted to tuesday – started, with people like Tesco, Aldi And Lidl ready to be packed with shoppers.

Supermarket opening hours on public holidays from early May
Many supermarkets and shops will be open as normal.
Unlike Easter Sunday, where trade laws mean that shops over a certain size must close for the day, this holiday has no such laws.
However, stores may have different hours so employees can finish earlier or start later to enjoy the holiday.
Most supermarkets are open during normal opening hours, but shoppers are advised to contact their local branch in advance.

- Sainsbury's – Most of the larger stores will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., while local stores will be open as usual from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Check the opening hours of your local store online

- Guard rose – Most stores will be open as per their normal trading hours, with some Little Waitrose branches open from 7am to 10pm. Check the opening hours of local shops online
- Aldi Shops will be open from 8am to 8pm. Check local opening hours online
- Lidl A spokesperson for Lidl said opening hours may vary from store to store, but you can check the opening times of your local store online
- Co-Op – Opening hours vary by location, with shoppers can check their local opening hours online
Supermarkets aren't the only places you can spend your money; clothing stores and eateries maintain their normal opening hours.
Costa Coffee stores will open their doors over the holiday, although opening times may vary from store to store.
Those looking to tackle some DIY will be happy to know that the Homebase stores will be open on May 6, but you can check the exact times for your local store here.
Clothing stores such as Next and Primark will be open throughout the holiday, but shoppers are urged to check the opening times of their local stores as these may vary by region.
