Prince Harry travels to Britain this week for an important one Invictus games but his family members are not expected to attend, showing “how far he has fallen”, according to a royal expert.
The Duke of Sussex founded the Invictus Games in 2014 as an international multi-sport event for wounded, injured and ill military personnel, both servicemen and veterans.
TalkTVs Speaking to royal correspondent Michael Cole, Kevin O'Sullivan said the royals “came out in force” at the 2014 Invictus Games launch ceremony.
King Charles, Camilla and Prince William were all there to support Harry, O'Sullivan noted.
However, it is thought that none of the royal family will be present on Wednesday when Harry attends an event at St Paul's Cathedral.
According to reports, no senior members of the royal family are expected to attend, but Harry will meet his father during his visit to England.
O'Sullivan drew a comparison to the 2014 event, which was attended by many members of the royal family, saying it is a “clear indication of how far he has fallen in terms of the rest of the royal family, who quite frankly can no longer see”.
But the royal family have received some backlash for their apparent lack of support in 'boycotting' the Invictus Games.
A former courtier told it The everyday beast: “Charles has made it very clear that he is willing to be kind and supportive to Harry in his capacity as a private individual, as his father, but he will not again throw the weight of the institution behind Invictus.
'This all seems very logical within the Palace bubble, but the problem is that people who aren't too concerned about such things, who are vaguely aware that the Royal Family spend their days visiting community centers and opening of supermarkets, will wonder why they are boycotting this great charity run by the King's son.
'Many of us think this is a classic example of the Royal Family cutting off their noses to look into their faces, because Invictus is clearly exactly the kind of organization the Royal Family should be supporting.
'If a bridge is ever going to be built [between Harry and the royals]Invictus is the beachhead from which it can be built, and they need to get to work and do it.”
