French president Emmanuel Macron has even said that sending migrants to another country is “a betrayal of our values” as Europeans.
But what I would call really heartless is some of the migrant policy that exists within there the European Union yourself.
This week we heard how they drove the Alhashimi family into the arms of human traffickers, leading to the death of their little girl.
What happened to seven-year-old Sara Alhashimi is extremely poignant, desperate and heartbreaking.
Not a perfect solution
She was crushed in a migrant boat as she and her family tried to cross the canal to England.
To everyone who met her, this little girl was European. She was born in Belgium and grew up in Scandinavia.
Her Iraqi father Ahmed had been told that all his asylum attempts had failed and that he, his wife and three children would be deported to Iraq in just two days.
Belgian officials argued that his hometown of Basra was classified as a safe area, but he was terrified to return to the place he had fled from 14 years earlier because of Iraqi militants.
He paid £5,000 to people smugglers and they boarded a dinghy.
But as more and more refugees poured in, his little daughter was trampled.
Ahmed says he will never be able to forgive himself.
But you have to wonder if the officials are inside Brussels will also one day be able to forgive themselves.
It seems ironic that Sara's death occurred within hours Rishi Sunak pass a bill to deport illegal migrants from our shores to Rwanda.
We all know this is not a perfect solution.
And we know that our country really doesn't want to be in this position.
But at least we don't push families into the hands of human smugglers.
And I'm damn sure Kigali is a lot safer than the streets of Basra.
Of course, that won't matter to our critics the European Unionlike President Macron.
They will pile in to take the higher ground and attack us over Rwanda at every opportunity.
But the next time you hear them say that we are “betraying European values” about migrants, perhaps you should pause for a moment.
And remember how their great values tragically betrayed a seven-year-old girl named Sara.

There are some professions where the people who work there really should have a fair degree of integrity and respect for the law – and a lawyer is clearly high on the list.

For those who think this is far-fetched, let me tell you, it is not.
I grew up on a small farm in the hills Yorkshire Dales and my family also became visibly upset when the sheep and cows were sold.
And for the few we gave pet names to, it was horrible.
I don't think I'll ever forget rushing home from school to feed my lamb Snowy, only to find that he had been transported to the big Sunday dinner in the sky.
But I think that's the price decent farming families have to pay for caring until the end.

TOM KILLING'S MADNESS
THE family of caring grandfather Thomas O'Halloran, who was fatally stabbed on his mobility scooter, are “disgusted” that murder charges have been dropped against his killer. Me, too.
The 87-year-old, who often went out to raise money for the war-torn Ukrainewas stabbed in the neck and chest by Lee Byer during a completely motionless attack in Greenford, West London.

Byer was a career criminal who had 15 previous convictions for 30 offenses and once laughed in the dock at the Old Bailey.
He had been released from prison just FIVE days earlier and was due to appear in court charged with a violent attack on a woman.
Although he was charged with murder, the prosecutor downgraded the case to manslaughter mental health Reports indicated that he was psychotic, heard voices, suffered from paranoid delusions and paranoid schizophrenia.
This merely reflects the case of Valdo Calocane32, who murdered Grace O'Malley-Kumar, Barnaby Webber and Ian Coates in Nottingham last year, but the Crown Prosecution Service also dropped murder charges against him.
That makes it all the more shocking that Byer was ready to attack even on the streets of London.
It is surely time for our police, CPS and health services to work together so that another innocent person's life is not snuffed out in such a horrific manner.
