Wicklow crash victim Molly Dempsey, 15, is the third sibling in the family to die in recent years

Molly's death is the latest tragedy to hit the Dempsey family after her older brother Roy died in September 2007 and her brother Killian died in 2016.

Molly Dempsey (15) died after the accident shortly before 5am in Slaney Park, Baltinglass on May 5.

Molly's death is the latest tragedy to hit the Dempsey family. Her older brother Roy died in September 2007 when he was just 13 years old, and in 2016, tragedy struck again when another sibling, Killian, died suddenly, aged just 16.

Molly was pronounced dead at the scene on Sunday, while the driver of the car, a man also in his teens, was arrested on suspicion of offenses under the Road Traffic Act.

He was held at a Garda station in Wicklow but has since been released.

“Investigations are ongoing and a file will be prepared for the DPP,” a Garda spokesperson said.

There were no other serious injuries.
