Wainewright appeared in Cardiff Crown Court today to make a plea, but the case was adjourned as he was not represented by a lawyer, due to an ongoing strike over legal aid fees.

He appeared in court in a white shirt and spoke only to confirm his name and address.

Wainewright was originally charged with injury with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, but this was dropped after Andrew died, and Wainewright was charged with manslaughter.

Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke listed Nov. 10 for a plea and hearing in preparation for the trial.
