around 70, firefighters are fighting a massive bushfire that is sweeping across West London grassland, burning the residents’ terrace.

Plumes of smoke are visible for miles after the inferno broke out on Hereford Road in Feltham around 4.35pm on Sunday.

Neighbors filmed the huge flames licking their garden fences before fleeing their homes.

People living in both Uxbridge and Twickenham reported heavy ash falling from the sky.

A spokesman for the London Fire Brigade said the force had taken 44 calls to the blaze. They added: “Firefighters are fighting a fire involving trees, hedges, shrubs and decking at the back of some properties on the road.

“The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.”

The fire came hours after a baby was pulled from a block of flats on Heathstan Road in Shepherd’s Bush.

Thirty people fled the fire that broke out on a second-floor balcony.

A baby who had inhaled smoke was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Station Commander Matt Brown, who is on the scene, said: “Firefighters are working hard in hot conditions to fight this blaze, which started on a second-floor balcony.

Residents in the area are advised to close windows and doors because of the smoke.

“While there are currently no road closures, we are asking motorists to avoid the area where possible as there are a large number of vehicles on the scene.”
