BOXING promoter Frank Warren has praised the British Boxing Board of Control for intervening and banning Conor Benn’s fight with Chris Eubank Jr.

However, after Benn failed a drug testthe match was called into question.
Traces of clomiphene were discovered in his system, a substance banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Clomiphene is often used as a drug to treat infertility in women who are not ovulating, but it can also increase testosterone levels in men.
The BBBoC then intervened and declared that the scrap is prohibited under their sanctionsdespite BOTH fighters wanting to continue the fight — a decision that promoter Warren has praised.
warren says the board has shown “integrity” because the fight that goes on would not be in “boxing’s best interests”.
Participate talkSPORT Drive, Warren gave his assessment of the situation, saying: “What’s happening here is the two boxers are going to make a lot of money and can see this isn’t going to happen.
“They have trained hard. Eubank Jr takes a calculated risk by saying ‘I don’t care if he takes it, I think I can beat him’. That’s where he is.
“The promoter wants it to continue, but that is not in their interest or in the interest of boxing.

“The board has shown some integrity here, if the fact is that he tested positive.
“No one has denied that, but the bottom line is that you signed up for VADA when it wasn’t necessary and you trusted the UKAD tests?
“Why pay the money to get them tested?”
Warren says if he was faced with a similar situation, he would have fought too.
He added: “Yes, I would [pull the fight]. If something goes drastically wrong, what are you going to do about it? Where are you going with that?
“Everyone was worried about it in sport.
“Conor is gaining weight, Chris Eubank has to pump himself out to make that weight. He’s 33, he’s not a young kid.
“The big problem with boxing when we’ve had problems has usually been dehydration.
“God forbid if something has gone wrong, how do you justify it?”
Both Benn’s promoter Hearn and Eubank Jr’s in Kalle Sauerland said the battle is still going on.
Hearn said Benn has passed tests conducted by UK Anti-Doping, meaning he will not be suspended by the BBBoC.
He said: “Conor Benn has not been suspended by the British Boxing Board of Control, in the end he can’t be because he passed all of the UKAD’s tests.
“But it is clear that the British Boxing Board of Control will take a position on it, we will deal with the lawyers.”
According to ESPN, Hearn tries to get a court order to keep the fight going.
The 157-pound catchweight clash was set to take place nearly 30 years after their fathers’ famous rematch, which ended in a draw.
