Brentford 4-0 Manchester United: Erik ten Hag humiliated as Thomas Frank’s game plan works to perfection

It is clear that much of the focus of the 4-0 defeat will be on United’s disorganized performance, but it was Frank’s game plan that delivered the tests that failed the away side again and again.

The strongly oppressive Brentford built their recent success on the first goal, with Cristiano Ronaldo robbed of the ball before Josh Dasivla’s rather tame shot from just outside the box under a terrible David de Gea.

For the second, Christian Eriksen was knocked aside when Mathias Jensen harassed him after a short goal kick, stealing possession and finishing easily.

Ben Mee added a third-place finish after the home side’s physicality startled a United team that lacked any fight after a corner, with Bryan Mbeumo hitting a fourth after a wonderfully sharp counterattack left their opponents for dead.

Bringing brains and strength to West London from a side that works on a shoestring budget. Nothing has changed for United. Too easy to play against, without any sort of direction and soulless to the point where you wonder if the club is even aware at this stage, Liverpool will be licking their lips before their meeting next week.
