Budget response Nicola Sturgeon: SNP chief lashes out at ‘super rich laughing all the way to the bank’ | Politics | News

Nicola Sturgeon has only taken a few minutes to unleash her anger at the government over the mini-budget announcements this morning. Scotland’s first minister said after the statement to the House of Commons that even many of the country’s “super-rich” would be “appalled at the moral bankruptcy of the Tories”.

Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng went to the mailbox this morning to draft his economic package for the nation, just weeks after Liz Truss’s new government took over.

In a tweet, the prime minister said that “the super-rich are laughing all the way to the very bank (although I suspect many of them will also be appalled by the moral bankruptcy of the Tories), while an increasing number of the rest depend on food banks” .

She added that this was “all due to the incompetence and recklessness” of the British government.
