Falling pound is bad news for beer prices

Carlsberg Marstons boss Paul Davies has warned that the depreciating value of the pound could affect beer prices.

He told BBC Radio 4’s Today program said the drop was “worrying” for the UK beer industry as brewers import hops from abroad.

When asked if the value of the pound mattered, Mr Davies said: “Yes it does, a lot of the hops used in this country are actually imported and a lot of it, especially for craft brewers, is imported.” from the United States, so changes in currency are definitely a concern for the industry.”
