TL;DR

  • Fitbit will discontinue the Fitbit Connect app later this year.
  • Those with older Fitbit devices can no longer transfer music from their PC.
  • They will need to get a Pandora or Deezer subscription to download music for offline playback.

Fitbit is discontinuing the Fitbit Connect app that allows users to connect their devices to a PC. According to a support page spotted by people at 9to5Googlethe app will disappear on October 13, 2022. However, this will also stop the ability to transfer music from your PC to your Fitbit.

If you’re someone who owns a Fitbit Versa, Versa 2, or Ionic, you’ll no longer be able to connect your devices to your computer and sync your music for offline playback after the October deadline.

Fitbit has slowly phased out the Fitbit Connect app in favor of its mobile app. Without the app, older Fitbit users will have to stick to a paid subscription to Pandora or Deezer to download music to their devices.

Fitbit’s support page says “you may be eligible for a 90-day trial” of either music streaming servicewhich will cost you $9.99/month for Deezer Premium or $4.99/month for Pandora Plus once the trial is over.

However, the change won’t affect those with newer Fitbit models. Devices like the Feeling and Versa 3 already lets you download music only through Pandora and Deezer.

If you have an older Fitbit, you can still access the music you downloaded from your PCs, but you won’t be able to transfer new music once the Fitbit Connect app is turned off.
