A state of emergency has been declared in Auckland after torrential rains battered the city on Friday.
The region has widespread damage against flooding and torrential rain with reports of slipping.
Many people were evacuated from their homes.
Auckland Emergency Management advised those safe to stay home and provide shelter.

- Bring all the essential items you need for the evening, e.g. medicines, warm clothes, baby equipment.
Advice
- Check friends, neighbors and relatives – but don’t put yourself at risk in the process
- Do not drive through flood waters and stay off roads and flood areas
- Listen to the radio for updates
- If you live in an area prone to flooding, take the plane to evacuate – make sure to bring essentials such as medicines.
