iPhone maker Foxconn has been making rapid strides in the auto world lately, having bought the old GM plant in Lordstown, Ohio and quickly set to work kicks off production of the Lordstown Endurance and signing deals to the next . to produce Fisher Pear and landed EV. Now they are proving that speed again by rolling out their own production-ready electric truck: the Foxconn Model V.
A lot has changed since Telsa first introduced the world to the Cybertruck in ::checks notes:: 2019. At the time, there was no Ford F-150 Lightning. Not even a Silverado EV or GMC Sierra. Rivian was still out of production and Lordstown still looked like a viable thing. When the Cybertruck landed, it was walking on an empty playing field – now? Now it’s months (if not years) away from production, while Ford and GM have waiting lists that are hundreds of thousands of vehicles strong.
And that playing field is only getting busier, as this latest truck debut shows.
Pride of Taiwan

Foxconn’s Model V, the first electric pickup designed and developed in Taiwan, promises payloads up to 1 tonne and towing capacity up to 3 tonnes with different chassis configurations to maximize the driver’s needs on the road or off road.
The electric pickup also has a five-seat body, about the size of the Ford Maverick’s, with rear-view mirrors with electronic cameras similar (in concept, if not execution) to the Lucid Air’s.
Foxtron (the brand Foxconn plans to sell the trucks under) claims 30 percent gradeability (16.7 degrees) and a base range of 420 km (about 265 miles). The Model V should be able to charge from 20 to 80 percent in 30 minutes, with bed dimensions of 1.5 x 1.45 meters putting it right in line with Ford’s compact trucklet.
The truck was shown this week as part of Foxconn’s Hon Hai Tech Day, which also saw two other compact EVs and a range of high-tech parts on offer to other automakers.
