Gardaí investigation as Drogheda high school is targeted on social media for the second time

Gardaí continues to investigate a series of posts posted on social media in recent days targeting a school.

Officers visited St Oliver’s Community College in Drogheda on Wednesday following allegations of an online threat. Gardaí patrolled the area around the school all Wednesday.

Gardaí is investigating a threat made today, Wednesday, September 21, 2022, via a social media messaging app against an educational institution in Drogheda, a Garda spokesperson said.

“There are ongoing patrols in the area.”

This morning Gardaí was alerted after further messages, also targeting the school, were posted online. However, the corps said the institution is not under threat.

“Gardaí is investigating posts made today, Friday, September 23, 2022, via a social media messaging app at an educational institution in Drogheda. A Garda Siochana is satisfied that there is no threat to the institution,” added a Garda spokesperson.

“Investigations are underway.”
