According to an influential group of MPs, HOLIDAY makers should be able to buy duty-free when they return to the UK.

In a letter, the parliamentary group The Future of Aviation said 65 countries have already offered the deals and that if the UK did, passenger spending would increase by 30 per cent and create jobs.

It reads: “With our exit from the EU, the UK has a unique opportunity to outpace our European neighbours’ retail sales.”

It states that the taxpayer would not be stung because the industry would pay.

Group Chairman Henry Smith said: “The Chancellor could take the opportunity to boost UK aviation and travel, create jobs and generate additional tax revenue through the introduction of duty-free pre-arrival shops.”
