A planned walk-off by professional firefighters on Monday has been canceled and there is hope that a settlement can be reached before Christmas, their union says.
A statement released today from the New Zealand Professional Firefighters Union said it and Fire and Emergency New Zealand were finalizing the necessary documentation for an agreement to be sent to local groups.
Schedules for ratification meetings would be sent, but could not be confirmed until the necessary documentation for the proposed settlement was finalized.
The schedule was developed with the intention that the ratification voting process would be completed before Christmas, the statement said.
