Horror as boy, 15, is rushed to hospital after stabbing in Torquay

  • The 15-year-old boy suffered a single stab wound in Torquay around 6 p.m
  • Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy in connection with tonight’s knife attack

A schoolboy was stabbed in an attack in Torquay earlier in the evening.

The victim, a 15-year-old boy, suffered a single stab wound after being attacked on Carlton Road, Torquay, around 6pm.

Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed that the youngster is being treated at Torbay District Hospital, where he is said to be in a serious but stable condition.

The suspected suspect, a 16-year-old boy, is currently in custody on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. A 14-year-old boy has also been arrested on suspicion of GBH. He is currently in the hospital in stable condition.

Detective Inspector Prav Naidoo, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are in the very early stages of our investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this incident. Our agents remain in the area to investigate and conduct house searches to assist with the investigation.

“We currently have security guards on Carlton Road and at the McDonald’s restaurant on Hele Road and road closures on Belmont Road and Carlton Road.

“We are aware that there may be footage circulating on social media that we want to remind people not to share on social media, but instead send it to the police.

“We are also looking for witnesses and would like to hear from anyone who has dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage between the Carlton Road, Belmont Road and Hele Road areas.
