Suryakumar Yadav became the first Indian player to be dismissed for three consecutive first-ball ducks in ODI cricket as Australia secured a series win at Chennai.

The world No. 1 T20 batsman was sacked by Mitchell Starc for golden ducks in the first two games of the series, before being bowled by Ashton Agar in the series decider.

India chased 270 to win the series, moving to 65-0 and 185-4 before Australia fought back through spinners Agar and Adam Zampa.

Agar dismissed Virat Kohli for 54 and Yadav the first ball, while Zampa took four wickets as Australia limited India to 248 to win by 21 runs.

The victory sends Australia above India to the top of the ODI world rankings, with a 50-over World Cup later this year.

It is India’s first ODI series defeat at home since 2019 and sees Australia return home on a high after a 2-1 defeat in the Test series.
