A gunman killed five people and wounded three others in a shooting near a synagogue in East Jerusalem on Friday night, Israel’s national rescue service said.
The gunman was shot and reportedly killed.
It is one of the deadliest attacks on Israelis in years.
The killings came a day after Israeli forces killed nine Palestinians in the deadliest raid on the West Bank in years.
Among the injured was a 70-year-old in critical condition, the medical service said.
