Mike Hucknall struck former prime minister Boris Johnson for denying lying about partying in Westminster during the lockdown.

Member of Parliament and former Prime Minister sat through several hours of questioning about the Partygate scandal by the Privileges Committee in parliament on Wednesday.

At one point he lost his temper and barked at the head of the committee while grilling him, claiming that ‘people who say we were partying in lockdown just don’t know what they’re talking about’.

Mr Johnson is fighting to save his political career and in a 52-page document filed Monday he said what he was doing at the time was what he thought was right.

He also tried to justify one particular meeting – the farewell to his former communications director Lee Cain – as “important” for him to attend because it could have been a “potentially bitter” moment.

However, 62-year-old Simply Red musician Hucknall went crazy over what he heard Mr Johnson say during the session.

He shared his thoughts on the Conservative politician on Twitter, writing: “While Boris Johnson was having his farewell drink, like millions of others, I wasn’t allowed to say goodbye to my dying father-in-law in hospital.”

He went on to label Mr. Johnson a “despicable liar.”

“There were so many parties he can’t keep up with,” he later added, before vehemently denying that he voted for the political party in the last election.

The singer had before intervened in the vegetable scarcity crisis, invite his followers to send pictures of fully stocked shelves in vegetable aisles across Europe.

A staunch critic of BrexitHucknall suggested that the UK’s withdrawal from the EU was to blame for a lack of vegetables on UK shelves and he raved about the ‘glorious’ fully stocked vegetable shelves across the EU.

Liam Gallagher also sprang into action after Boris Johnson’s whims on Wednesday, sharing his less-than-complimentary thoughts on Twitter as well.

“Boris Johnson gets his fat ass handed to him on a sign that says nothing on TV these days is great [sic]’ he mused.

Gary Lineker earlier tweeted his take on the “lying” Mr. Johnson just days after his temporary suspension from the BBC for comparing the the government’s immigration policy to Nazi Germany.

He tweeted, “When people are constantly telling lies it’s really hard to know when they’re telling the truth.

“I can imagine it’s even a challenge for them.”

Mr Johnson vowed to tell the truth in front of the Privileges Committee before apologizing.

Addressing the illegal gatherings in number 10, he said, “That was wrong, I regret it bitterly, I understand the public anger.

“I continue to apologize for what happened on my watch. I take full responsibility,” but added, “Me, hand on heart, I have not lied to the House.”

Mr Johnson said it was ‘nonsense’ to suggest it should have been obvious to him that rules were being broken in No 10 because of the photos of him at events.

He claimed that it is staggeringly implausible to suggest that there were “unauthorized events in No. 10 while these events were being immortalized by an official photographer”.

He said: ‘It seems to be the opinion of the committee and unfortunately many members of the public that they show me attending rule-breaking parties where nobody was socially distancing. They show nothing of the sort.

“They show me some words of thanks at a work event for a departing colleague. They show me I’m on my way to another meeting with my red box or heading back to my flat to continue working, often late into the night.

“They show a few people standing together – as allowed by guidance – where full social distancing is not possible and mitigation measures are being taken.

“They show events I’ve never been fined for.”
