According to an unnamed insider in the film, Pugh and Wilde got into an argument over Wild’s “frequent, inexplicable absence” from the set, resulting in a “screaming contest” between the two women.

The apparent feud between them came to light last month when Wilde called Pugh “Miss Flo” and said she needed a “wake-up call” during the film’s rehearsal period, in a leaked video for actor Shia LaBeouf.

The report even claims that the feud between the pair got so bad that it was taken to the top executive of Warner Bros. at the time – Toby Emmerich – who must play the peacemaker.

Emmerich is said to have facilitated a “long negotiation process” to ensure that Pugh would stay with the project after the film was wrapped and ensure she would be around to promote it.

As previously reported, Pugh has stepped back considerably from her promotion duties for the film, which was shown during its Venice premiere, but little else — recently skipping the New York premiere, an odd move for the lead actress.

They also did little to dispel the drama in Venice, as it appears that the attendants went to great lengths to keep both actresses apart during the photo shoot for the event.

The final bit of drama comes after Harry Styles’ own mother lashed out at the “vitriolic comments” surrounding the film as she praised her son and his girlfriend Olivia.

Anne Twist posted a glowing review of the psychological thriller, which stars Harry along with Florence Pugh, despite only achieving a Rotten Tomatoes score of 36 percent so far.

On Instagram on Thursday, Anne shared a series of snaps at the theater as she wrote: ‘First time in French cinema…first day on display…Don’t worry honey’ you were outstanding!

‘Really enjoyed it from start to finish. Well done @oliviawilde and team for getting us in, well done baby @harrystyles for being a fantastic Jack. Very proud as usual.’

Interestingly enough, she didn’t mention lead actress Florence in the post.

However, Anne did take to her Stories to say how “sad” she is to see so much negativity being thrown at the film and the cast, including Gemma Chan and Chris Pine.

She wrote: ‘If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.

‘To be honest, I am amazed and saddened by the vitriolic comments here. I enjoyed a movie. If it’s not your cup of tea, don’t go…’

She concluded, ‘If you don’t like me… please don’t follow me. Easy.’

Meanwhile, Olivia spoke about the pair’s much-rumored feud with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday on The Late Show, stressing that she has “nothing but respect” for Florence, despite being plagued by claims to the contrary.

She gushed about Florence’s performance in the controversial film and suggested being questioned about the feud being sexist because it’s not something her “male director colleagues answer.”
