Piers Morgan shared on social media an update on the police investigation into a death threat he has received.

The Uncensored Host reported a worrying comment left on an Instagram post of a photo of Piers and his son Spencer in February 2021.

According to screenshots Piers shared at the time, a social media user labeled him a “marked man” and “promised” he would be “killed.”

The broadcaster reported the threats to the metropolitan police and bigger Manchester The police confirmed that an investigation had been launched.

In January it was then revealed that a male suspect was arrested in August 2021, and that his phone and tablets had been removed for forensic analysis.

However, the suspect was released pending investigation and it appears that little progress has been made on the case.

Piers shared an update with his Uncensored viewers, saying Wednesday night: “I had a death threat against me and my oldest son on his Instagram in public, not in a private message, a public response to a photo of me and my son.

“This was 18 months ago, maybe longer, and I was so outraged by the nature of it and the specifics of it and how grotesque it was on my son’s Instagram. He’s in his late twenties, but it also scared him a bit. I reported it to the police.’

Piers then announced: “I got an update from them today, it still hasn’t come to a decision on payment. They knew who this person was months and months and months ago, they had the phone months ago and there is still no decision on charging.

Piers believes trolls should feel the ‘full force of the law’ when they ‘act with impunity on social media’ (Picture: PA)

“Now I am a prominent person who has spoken about this publicly and there is still no resolution from these 18 months to this very specific death threat, which if uttered on the street would be a criminal offence.

“So my point is not just about the complexity of it all, but also about the liability that must come from the full force of the law if people act with impunity on social media.”

Metropolitan Police confirmed they had made an arrest in a statement to Metro.co.uk which read: “The Metropolitan Police told… metro.co.uk in a statement: “On Wednesday, February 17, 2021, police received a report of malicious communications related to messages sent on social media.

‘Agents have personally spoken to the complainant.

On August 3, a 43-year-old man was arrested in Manchester on suspicion of threat of murder. He has been released pending an investigation while the investigation continues. The investigation is still ongoing.’

Piers Morgan Uncensored airs weekdays at 8 p.m. on TalkTV.
