On Sunday, Princess Charlene made a surprising public appearance at Paris Fashion Week as she sat front row at the Akris Spring/Summer 2023 show. The Monegasque royal has not made much public appearance in the past two years due to illness.

Princess Charlene wore an Akris-designed navy blue jacket with matching navy blue pants and also fitted with black pumps and an Akris clutch.

Fashion designer Akris is celebrating its 100th anniversary and their new collection has been described as a “homage” to his legacy.

On their website they wrote that the collection is: “Where past, present and future coexist. A look back to move forward into a new century!”

After the show, Princess Charlene posted a sweet message on Instagram alongside a photo of herself talking to Albery Kriemler, the creative director of Akris.

She wrote: “Thank you Albert for a great evening and congratulations on 100 years of perfection”, alongside a blue heart emoji.

Many royal fans expressed their joy when they saw the princess appear in public.

One commenter wrote on Instagram: “It’s great to have Princess Charlene back on the big stage in full form,” while another fan said: “It’s good to see you outside again.”

Other Princess Charlene fans commented on the princess’s fashion choices, with one user writing, “You make these clothes shine!” and someone else said, “Beautiful, elegant and graceful!”

The princess spent most of 2021 in South Africa away from her family due to her illness, but has not made much public appearance since her return to Monaco.

While many details about Princess Charlens’ illness are unknown, she has spoken of missing her husband Prince Albert and her twins Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques while seeking treatment in South Africa, where the princess is from. .

She said: “It’s a difficult time for me. I miss my husband and children very much.”

“Albert is my rock and strength and without his love and support I would not have been able to get through this painful time.”

The princess returned to Monaco in November 2021, but then spent four months in a clinic in Switzerland.

However, in March 2022, it was announced that she would be returning to her royal duties in Monaco as her health improved.

In an interview with Monaco-Martin newspaper in May this year, she said: “My health is still fragile and I don’t want to go too fast. The path has been long, difficult and very painful.”

She added: “I am very happy to be back home in Monaco and with my family. I received so many positive and warm messages while I was away from Monaco, and I thank them for their support.”

The princess accompanied her husband Prince Albert to Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September and also expressed her condolences to the British royal family.

She wrote: “I am deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a truly wonderful lady whose dedication and service has been recognized around the world during the 70 years of her reign.

“My thoughts are with her family, her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren and the British people.”
