A traditional welcome event at Balmoral Castle has reportedly been scrapped, sparking new fears over the Queen’s health.

The annual event was scheduled to continue later in the day, but has been replaced by a “small, private event,” the organizers said. the mirror.

It will be the first in decades that the monarch – whose mobility and general health have come under critical scrutiny in recent months – will not greet the public at the gates to mark the start of her annual holiday, except during the Covid crisis.

The paper reported that until a few days ago the Queen had planned to be there and quoted a royal source as saying: “The traditional welcome at Balmoral is normally laid down in the Queen’s calendar and something Her Majesty really likes, to greet the locals who travel to see her.

“It is a bitter disappointment that the ceremony will not take place in its traditional form.”

Buckingham Palace did not immediately respond to Metro.co.uk’s request for comment.

The move comes after the Queen missed a series of events over the winter following a bout of Covid-19 and concerns about her using a wheelchair.

Instead, a private ceremony on the Balmoral lawns at the castle is expected to be held without photographers and reported.

During her anniversary earlier this ceremony, the Queen appeared in good health with two public appearances on the balcony.
