Ronnie O’Sullivan has been forced out of the European Masters with an arm injury and has hinted that he could miss other tournaments as he tries to fix the problem.

It was announced on Wednesday that the Rocket would not be involved with Furth for medical reasons, with his management confirming that the world champion is dealing with tennis elbow and has been unable to train.

The 46-year-old says the next tournament he wants to play is the Hong Kong Masters, which will return to the calendar this October 6-9 season.

“I’ve had an injury to my arm in the past year,” O’Sullivan told Eurosport, while attending the FIM Speedway Grand Prix of Great Britain in Cardiff.

“The last two months it’s just gotten really bad, so I really need to let it rest.

“Hopefully it gets better and I think it’s a process of healing. One of the big events I want to play in is in Hong Kong which is early October.

“I thought I’d better let it rest and try to get it better before that.”

This will be important for the two events that O’Sullivan will play for the Hong Kong Masters, with the World Mixed Doubles (24-25 September) and the British Open (26 Sep – 02 Oct) scheduled for then. stand.

The world’s number one is in the draw for the British Open, where he is set to play Alexander Ursenbacher in the first round, but it wouldn’t come as a huge shock if he chooses not to participate as he has withdrawn from the competition. event when it returned to last season’s calendar.

However, it would be a surprise if he didn’t play in the World Mixed Doubles event as he had signed up along with the rest of the top four in the world rankings to play with the top four women in the world.

The draw has already been made and the Rocket will partner with 12-time Women’s World Champion Reanne Evans, with whom he shares a management team.

O’Sullivan pulls out of that combination and the event would be a blow to WST, broadcaster ITV and Evans, so they’ll all be hoping he can get the rest he needs before that point.
