Russia ‘resorts to Soviet-era tanks’ as Ukraine ‘knocks out’ Putin’s modern units | World | News

Arsenyev is located nearly 10,000 miles from Bakhmut, where there is currently heavy fighting between Russian and Ukrainian forces.

Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Ben Barry, an armored warfare expert at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) think tank, said the video made it seem as if Putin had Russia‘s modern tanks to the front line.

He said the country’s modern tanks are “in and around Ukraine“, meaning that there are “no more modern tanks in stock”.

The older tanks now seemingly coming out of storage are likely replacing any “used up” more modern (but still Soviet-era) T-62 tanks.
