Strictly Come Dancing star Molly Rainford has admitted she feels the pressure after jumping to the top of the standings.

The Nova Jones actor is one of 15 celebrities, including: Helen Skelton and Will Mellor, who signed up for the BBC’s juggernaut series this year.

Paired with professional dancer Carlos Gu, making his Strictly debut, the 21-year-old has consistently wowed the judges with her moves on the ballroom.

Move MabuseCraig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke have so far awarded the CBBC star and Carlos 65 out of a possible 80 points for their first two appearances.

Most recently, the duo performed Beyonce’s Quickstep to Love on Top, with their scores catching up with previous leaderboard winners Will and Nancy Xu.

However, Molly confessed that she felt nervous when she appeared in It Takes Two on Wednesday, alongside Carlos.

When asked by host Janette Manrara if she felt the pressure, Molly replied, “Certainly. I’m a little scared for the next few weeks, just because I feel like we’ve set a good bar and there’s pressure to keep it up.”

But she also admitted that it “felt good” to be in first place in the standings after scoring nines by the judges in week two.

Carlos said that while he “wasn’t hoping for nines at all,” he had high hopes for Molly and “hoped for the best.”

Molly previously spoke to the Metro on signing up for Strictly, revealing that she couldn’t wait to shake off her squeaky clean image by taking on the show’s raunchy dances.

Speaking of Latin routines, she gushed, “It’s the dances you care about the most.

‘My character on CBBC is a lot more lighthearted and enthusiastic, so it will be fun to do’ [something] more serious and focused and passionate.’

It Takes Two continues tomorrow at 6.30pm on BBC Two and iPlayer.
