TikTok HORROR as a teen breaks her NECK in sick viral challenge | UK | News

Eighteen-year-old Sarah Platt said it was “peer pressure” that convinced her to join this trend, which sent her to hospital with multiple injuries two years ago, when she was 16. was at a hockey tournament with her friends, and her friends teased her and challenged her to take on a challenge called the “scull breaker,” the Mirror reported.

Similar videos uploaded to the social media platform show three children or teenagers standing side by side.

The person in the middle jumps in the air while the other two kick with both legs, causing them to fall to the ground and land on their heads.

Sarah was rushed to hospital with three broken bones, no sensation in her right leg and her T5 vertebrae.

Now she can happily stand and walk again, but still suffers from the accident.

The young girl said: “It was just a trend that existed at the time. We thought it would be fun and funny to make TikTok, but I didn’t really want to get involved because I just didn’t want to get hurt. But it was a bit of peer pressure.

“I want to try and make people more aware that they shouldn’t do it because it could lead to someone getting hurt.”

The terrifying challenge had caused a stir in 2020 when it was trending.

TikTok had announced at the time that it would remove such content and published a statement about it.

The statement read: “We do not allow content that encourages or replicates dangerous challenges that could lead to injury.

“In fact, it is a violation of our Community Guidelines and we will continue to remove this type of content from our platform.

“Nobody wants their friends or family to get hurt while filming a video or attempting a stunt.

“It’s not funny — and since we’re removing that kind of content, your TikTok certainly won’t be famous.”

Sarah’s mother, Jane Platt, said: “We were one of the lucky ones. She lives and walks – thank God – but of course we are dealing with something else because of that.”

The parents’ words come just as Archie Battersbee tragically lost his life, with his mother claiming it came after the boy tried a similar trend.

12-year-old Archie’s mother appealed to parents to ensure their children don’t take part in dangerous viral challenges.

Her son was declared brain stem dead by doctors after she suspected he was participating in a TikTok challenge.

Hollie Dance said, “Please, please parents, talk to your kids because I know there are a lot of new challenges online.”

She added: “Please talk to your kids because I think this seems to be buried, you know, and I think it’s important.

“I don’t want any of the parents to have what we went through and I definitely don’t want any more children to die.”
