Tim Southee’s 200th one-day international wicket gave the Black Caps bowler a world first.
When Southee dismissed Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan in Friday’s match at Auckland’s Eden Park, he became the first player in international cricket to record 300 or more Test wickets, 200 or more ODI scalps and 100 or more Twenty 20 kills.
Southee also became the fifth New Zealand men’s bowler to take 200 wickets in ODIs, ending the innings with 202 after taking two more wickets in the last over.

Only Daniel Vettori (297), Kyle Mills (240) and Chris Harris (203) have taken more ODI wickets for New Zealand than the 33-year-old, while Chris Cairns took 200.
Southee has 347 Test wickets – only Sir Richard Hadlee (431) and Vettori (361) have more in the New Zealand five-day format – and is the nation’s leading T20 wicket-taker with 134 dismissals.
India went 306-7 in their 50 overs in the first of three games in the series, with Shreyas Iyer top-scoring with 80 while Dhawan made 72. Southee finished 3-73 as Lockie Ferguson took 3-59 for the hosts.
