The flight attendants, a man and a woman, also had a bloodied mouth, chipped tooth, swollen face and black eye after Tuesday’s incident.

They were both repeatedly punched in the stomach, arm and face during the unprovoked attack on a flight van Gatwick to Faro, Portugal.

Airport staff grabbed and detained the violent passenger before police arrived to arrest her under the wing on the tarmac as they landed.

Some easyJet Cabin crew members who were not on the flight have therefore suggested self-defense and pressure point training.

It is suspected that the passenger was drunk during the flight.

A source told The Sun: “It sounded like quite a scrap. This is what cabin crew sometimes have to deal with. They have to put up with some sh*t.”

An easyJet spokesman said: “easyJet is aware of this disruptive passenger incident on landing in Faro, which was extremely distressing to the crew and passengers on board.

Police were called in to assist the crew in handling the incident and arrested the passenger.

“We will not tolerate threatening or violent behavior towards our crew or passengers and are doing everything possible to support the crew members who were victims of this unacceptable behaviour.

“The safety and well-being of our passengers and crew is easyJet’s top priority.”

Portuguese police said: “Police officers were called to a plane at Faro’s international airport – Gago Coutinho Airport – for aggression.

On site, the aircraft commander informed police officers that a female passenger had assaulted two crew members on board.

“The unruly passenger was grabbed and detained by airport staff before police arrived.

“Because she was visibly altered and had meaningless speech, she received immediate help and was taken with a police escort to Faro Hospital, where she received further medical attention.

The passenger’s family was always aware of the situation and on December 21 she was released from the hospital.

“The police report has been sent to the prosecutor and the situation is under criminal investigation.”
