Vladimir Putin latest: Moment Russian troops surrounded after Antonovsky bridge bombing | World | News

The Ukrainian troops attacked Antonovsky Bridge for the second night in a row, amid a failed attempt Russian attempts to intercept the missiles. Ukraine turned to US-supplied HIMARS, which evaded Russian air defense efforts to stop the attacks. The multiple rocket launcher hit the bridge several times in an attack that was captured on camera.

The nighttime missile strike also appeared to destroy equipment the Russians were using to repair the bridge.

The successful attack effectively cuts off and captures thousands of Russian troops in the occupied city of Kherson.

The main Antonovsky Bridge over the Dnipro River is one of the few ways Russia has to resupply its armed forces.

Ukraine is slowly encircling the city, which remains the only regional capital to have fallen in the war by President Putin’s forces.

@JayinKyiv commented on the footage: “The futility of the multiple attempts of the Russian air defense, several absolute precision strikes by the Ukrainian HiMARS early this morning on the Antonovsky bridge.

“Incredible accuracy. Russia can do nothing.”

Due to the damage to the Russian supply line to Kherson, the British Ministry of Defense claimed on Saturday that Russian forces in the area are limited to just two pontoon bridges.

Ahead of last night’s strikes on the bridge, Defense said: “In recent days, Russia has only managed to make superficial repairs to the damaged Antonivsky road bridge, which is likely to remain structurally undermined.”
