What color is Saturn?
Saturn is a giant gas planet with an outer atmosphere made up mostly of hydrogen and helium.
The atmosphere contains traces of ammonia, phosphine, water vapor and hydrocarbons, giving it a yellow-brown color with a hint of orange.
Its clouds get a deep red color from hydrogen in the atmosphere – but the ammonia clouds obscure this red color making it the outermost layer and covering the entire planet.
This forms a pale golden color.

Some pictures of Saturn taken by NASAs Cassini spacecraft made the planet appear blue, similar to Uranus.
However, this is probably only due to the way the light is scattered from Cassini’s perspective.
What is Saturn made of?
If a spacecraft tried to hit Saturn, it would never find solid ground.
This is because unlike the SoilSaturn isn’t solid – and instead it’s a giant gas planet.
It consists of 94% hydrogen, 6% helium and small amounts of methane and ammonia – and contains many of the same components as the sun.
It is thought that deep within Saturn there could be a molten, rocky core the size of the Earth – but this has never been confirmed.
