With Office Weather Alert: FIVE Regions Alert for Lightning, ‘Draining Rain’ in DAYS | Weather | News

Thunderstorms and areas of heavy rain will develop quite widely across southern England on Wednesday, the Met said, warning that some communities could be cut off by “flooded roads”, while fast-flowing or deep floodwaters could pose a “life threat”. The warning affects the East Midlands, East of England, London and South East England, South West England and West Midlands.

The Met urged motorists to watch out for splashes and flash flooding, which could lead to “difficult driving conditions and some road closures”.

Delays and some cancellations of train and bus services are to be expected in areas affected by flooding or lightning strikes, the weather service added.

There is a small chance that “homes and businesses could be flooded quickly,” forecasters said, and that some buildings could be damaged “by flood, lightning, hail or high winds.”

Meanwhile, there is a slim chance of power outages, she added, while other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.
