David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) gave Max Turner (Paddy Bever) a history lesson in tonight’s Coronation Street.
They talked about life in front of cell phones, with David telling his son that people would communicate with landlines.
He also said that if the answering machine was full, the voicemails would not process – so sometimes an attempt to convey information was quite useless.
Max could not understand it, pointing out that it’s a little weird to constantly ring the house phone until you catch the right moment where someone is in.
David then revealed that they used to have a butler at home, who would answer the phone and take messages when people were not there.
Poor Max fell for hook, line and sinker for that!
David told Max they had the bartender, Gerard, before he arrived, so he obviously does not remember much about it.
Oh, and then he says they got rid of Gerard Butler in the end because Gail (Helen Worth) made a pass at him!
Gail’s love life is still more interesting than ours, with which we are absolutely, completely in order …
