There have been 12,202 new cases of Covid-19 reported in New Zealand in the past week and a further 25 deaths from the coronavirus.
Of the new cases, 5149 were re-infections.
2248 new cases were reported in the Canterbury region and 208 in the South Canterbury region.
There were also 220 people in hospital with Covid-19 as of midnight on Sunday, with nine cases in ICU.
The seven-day moving average of cases was 1739.
Last week, 11,258 new cases were reported and 76 other deaths attributed to Covid-19.
