Now you can open Slackord2 on your computer. You will be prompted for your Bot Token – paste it. If everything works, you should be told “Bot connection is now enabled”, but don’t connect yet.

Click instead File > Import JSON folder. Browse to the Slack archive you downloaded earlier and open the folder for the channel you want to migrate. The parsing process can take some time depending on how big the archive is. If everything is working correctly, you should see old messages scrolling before your eyes. While it’s parsing, go to Discord and create a new text channel with the same name.

When the parsing on Slackord is complete, click Settings > Bot Connection > Connect. This connects – you can tell it’s working if the bot you created shows up as online in Discord. Now you can type “/snail cord” in the Discord channel to which you want to import your channel’s archives. If everything is set up correctly, the messages will appear slowly.

Repeat this process – create an empty channel, open the JSON folder and run /slackord – for each channel you want to migrate. It will take time, admittedly, and the results won’t be perfect. Posts are all in plaintext and you don’t see the avatar next to them. Still, it’s a searchable archive of all your old Slack messages. Now all you have to do is let your friends know it’s time to make the switch.
