JK Rowling has revealed she is cooperating with police after receiving death threats after author Salman Rushdie was stabbed in New York.

The Harry Potter creator, 57, had revealed that a man had responded to her tweet about the stabbing to tell her ‘don’t worry, you’re next’.

She shared screenshots of his account and messages and asked Twitter Support, “any support?”

Rowling then confirmed: ‘Thank you to all who send messages of support. The police are involved (already involved in other threats).’

She was one of the famous faces who wished Rushdie the best after he was attacked before an event.

Rowling tweeted: ‘Terrible news. Feel very sick now. Let him be okay.’

Rushdie, 75, who had previously received death threats after his controversial book, The Satanic Verses, was released in 1988. stabbed on the podium of the Chautauqua Institute, leave him on a ventilator.

Andrew Wylie, his book agent, informed about his condition in a written statement, revealing: “The news is not good.

‘Salman will probably lose one eye; the nerves in his arm had been severed; and his liver was stabbed and damaged.’

The author was stabbed at least once in the neck and once in the abdomen, according to police officials, before being taken to hospital.

Major Eugene Staniszweski said at a news conference in Jamestown on Friday: “Earlier today at approximately 10:47 a.m., guest speakers Salman Rushdie, aged 75, and Ralph Henry Reese, aged 73, had just arrived on the institution’s podium.

Shortly afterwards, the suspect jumped on stage and attacked Mr Rushdie, stabbing him at least once in the neck and at least once in the abdomen.

“Several members of the facility’s staff and the public rushed over to the suspect and took him to the ground, and shortly after, a trooper who was at the facility took the suspect into custody with the help of a deputy from the sheriff of Chautauqua County.

“Mr Rushdie was treated medically by a doctor who was in the audience until the ambulance arrived.

“Mr. Rushdie was flown to a local trauma center and is currently undergoing surgery.”
