In total, the NATO army is a combination of approximately 3.5 million personnel, military and civilians.
The United States is by far the largest contributor, with approximately 1.35 million troops contributing.
The British army has a total force of about 160,000 and France has about 300,000 active duty soldiers.
Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Russia has posed many threats to its neighbors. This includes NATO member countries.
Last week, a line of trains banned from passing through Lithuania to Kaliningrad heightened tensions.
Before that, Russia warned Finland and Sweden to join NATO and threatened to deploy nuclear weapons in the Baltic states in response.
Attacks on NATO member states will involve all countries of the alliance as part of Article 5, which states that an attack on one is an attack on all.
